Escape from Sobibor
During WWII, the death camp in Treblinka had an escape, inducing the Commandant in a comparable camp at Sobibor to vow (actually threaten) his camp will never feel the identical task. But people who were its captives, the Jewish laborers who had been spared out of the ovens, knew they were on borrowed time and their only hope was to flee... the sole question was just how exactly to do it. On October 14, 1943, members of the underground resistance of this camp succeeded in killing eleven officers and a number of guards. Roughly 300 escaped, although most were and killed. The escape forced the Nazis to close the departure camp, planting a woods and dismantling it.
