Misty Button
With a story about a caper gone bad, this black comedy captures the freewheeling émigré lifestyle of guys short on employment and cash but not short on heavy drinking in the Irish lairs of Brooklyn and the Bronx. James, having has burned his last bridge and is now without a job or a wife, joins up with comrade Eoin on a for-hire trip to the racetrack on behalf of slippery raconteur Timmy Thomas. In a clumsy attempt at sleight of hand by a pair that wouldn't know a good hand from a bad one, the boys screw up spectacularly, putting themselves in serious debt to a gang of gangsters. When a daring lady with a soft spot for the sound of Irish and a taste for greenbacks sets her sights on James, a new angle opens up.
