Red Sorghum

An old leper who possessed a sorghum winery that is remote dies. Jiu'er, the wife purchased from the leper, along with her buff, identified only as"my Grandpa" by the narrator, take over the winery and set an idealized quasi-matriarchal community headed by Jiu'er. When the Western invaders cut down the sorghum to generate way for a route and subject the area , town rises up and resists as the sorghum grows.
