Dexter's Laboratory
Genndy Tartakovsky made Dexter's Laboratory, an animated science fiction and comedy show for kids on Cartoon Network. The show is about a boy genius named Dexter who has a secret laboratory full of his inventions. He is always fighting with his sister Dee Dee and his neighbor Mandark. Dee Dee always gets in, even though he tries to keep her out. In the first two seasons of the show, there are two more episodes: "Dial M for Monkey," which is about Dexter's pet lab monkey who becomes a superhero, and "The Justice Friends," which is about three superheroes who live together in an apartment. Tartakovsky first pitched the series to Hanna-animated Barbera's shorts show World Premiere Toons. He based it on student films he made at the California Institute of the Arts. In 1995 and1996, four shorts were made and shown on Cartoon Network. Based on the ratings, the network decided to order a 13-episode first season, which started on April28, 1996. By1999, 52 episodes and a TV movie had been made, and Tartakovsky left the show to work on Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars, which were also his ideas. In2001, the network brought the show back with a new production team at Cartoon Network Studios. The show ended on November20,2003, after 26 more episodes.
