England in the 1520s can be a pulse from disaster. The country could be destroyed by war, if the King dies without a male heir. Henry VIII wants to annul his marriage of twenty years and wed Anne Boleyn. Many of Europe and the Pope fight with him. Into this impasse steps Thomas Cromwell: a man that is original, a charmer, implacable in his ambition, and and a bully, both idealist and opportunist, self indulgent in reading people. But Henry is volatile: one day tender, 1 evening murderous. Cromwell helps the resistance breaks, but what will be the price tag on his or her triumph?
