Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson
BLOOD & FLESH is more than just the story of a unique career in filmmaking, thanks to the contributions of more than 40 coworkers, friends, and admirers. Outsider filmmaking communities in California in the 1970s are vividly depicted, as are the strange interactions between them and Hollywood mainstream and union indies. At one point, Charles Manson was a member of the Adamson team, along with usual Orson Welles cinematographers like Gary Graver, Vilmos Szigmond, and Lazlo Kovaks. Severin Films founder David Gregory (director of LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RICHARD STANLEY'S ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU) spent years making this film, speaking to everyone down the cops who investigated Adamson's murder, vividly capturing both a daring life and a tragic demise, with alien conspiracies, go-go dancers and Colonel Sanders coming in along the way. It's a must-see for anyone who has even a passing interest in the movies.
