Alley Cat
A depressed ex-boxer (Yosuke Kubozuka) who is self-medicating for the injuries that ended his career finds a stray cat that brightens his day, but she is taken by a funny, dirty mechanic (Kenji Furuya). Calling each other by the different names they gave the cat, Maru and Lily, the odd couple is suddenly sucked into a political plot with Saeko (Yui Ichikawa) and her son at the center. After seeing another case of the rich and powerful taking advantage of the weak, the two strays set out on the road to redemption, or at least peaceful cat ownership. (Fun fact: Yosuke Kubozuka and Kenji "KJ" Furuya, who were both in Alley Cat, released the single "Soul Ship" in 2017. In the band Dragon Ash, Kubozuka takes on the roles of Manji Line and Furuya.)
