Hester Street
Steven Keats plays with a Russian emigre who prides himself along how he has pushed himself into a true Yankee in the USA, though the entire planet he lives in, New York's Lower East Side from the late 19th century, now has been almost entirely populated by other Jewish immigrants. When his wife (Carol Kane) finally arrives in the New World, however, she has a lot of assimilating to really do. This leads to the strain which drives together the picture, even though it keeps a atmosphere the majority of the time.
