Shoah
No archive footage was used in the making of this 912 hour documentary about the Holocaust, which was directed by Claude Lanzmann. He speaks with Holocaust survivors, witnesses, and former Nazis (whom he had to film secretly since they only agreed to be interviewed by audio). It is his method of interviewing that is effective in that it obtains the most minute facts, which when added together provide an appalling portrayal of the events leading up to the Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazi regime. His subjects also demonstrate that the anti-Semitism that resulted in the deaths of 6 million Jews during the Holocaust is still alive and well among many individuals who live in Germany, Poland, and other parts of Europe today.
