The Rookie
Jim Morris never left it before a shoulder injury ended his pitching career twelve years ago. Now a married-with-children high school chemistry teacher and baseball coach in Texas, the team of Jim makes a deal with him: if they win the district championship, Jim will check out with a majorleague organization. The bet proves incentive for the team, plus so they go rendering it to convey for the first time in the annals of this faculty. Jim, driven to meet his end of this deal, is almost laughed off the tryout field--he puts onto the mound, where he confounds the scouts (and himself) by anemic consecutive 98 mph fastballs, sufficient for a minor-league contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Jim got plenty of pitches before he gets it however along with his dreams there's no telling where he could move.
