Without Anesthesia
A well-known Polish journalist presents a headache for the powers-that-be when he exhibits his full political ability and expertise on a television show featuring questions and answers from a panel of journalists about a world conference. When he is not present, his adversaries revoke his privileges. The shock of being "unwanted" reflects a more serious disappointment in his private life: his wife is having an affair with a jealous young rival and is seeking a divorce after 15 years of marriage and two daughters. She makes no explanations as he tries to resolve these issues on his own. Every move he makes is a mistake. After discovering the session has been canceled, he begins drinking heavily with people eager to attend his seminar. Once suave and forceful, the journalist is reduced to quiet.
