Get a Life
Receive a Life is really a tv sitcom which has been broadcast in the United States on the Fox Network from September 2-3, 1990. The show stars Chris Elliott being a paper boy named Chris Peterson. Peterson lived above his parents' garage. The opening credits portray Chris Peterson delivering newspapers on his bike to the show's theme song,"Stand" by R.E.M.
The show turned into a generation of writer/director David Mirkin, Adam Resnick and Elliott. Mirkin was executive producer/showrunner of this series and also directed most of those episodes. Notable writers of this series included Charlie Kaufman, screenwriter of Being John Malkovich. And Bob Odenkirk, co-creator of Mr. Show with Bob and David along with Tenacious D.
The show was unusual to get a prime time sitcom, and several times those episodes' storylines were surreal. As an example, the character of Elliott really expires in twelve episodes. The reasons for death included falling from an airplane, strangulation, being crushed by a giant boulder, old age, tonsillitis gunshot wounds, getting run over by automobiles, sipping on cereal, and exploding. It had been difficult for Mirkin and Elliott to find the show. A number of the executives at the Fox Network hated the show and thought that Elliott's personality was too mad and it was too upsetting.
