The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a Japanese animation series created by Hiroshi Saitô that premiered in 1980. It's based on Mark Twain's well-known and famous work The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The series was initially titled "Tom Sawyer no Bken" and aired on Fuji TV's World Masterpiece Theater, which featured an animated rendition of a new classic novel or narrative from Western literature each year. After 1977's Rascal the Raccoon, it was the series' second installment to include the work of an American author. Saban International dubbed the series into English, and it premiered on HBO in 1988 under the title "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." It aired at 7:30 a.m., and it was followed by the later WMT version of "Little Women." Celebrity Home Entertainment published videos in the United States under the title "All New Adventures of Tom Sawyer." As of January2011, the anime is available in the United States on NHK's cable channel TV Japan.
