The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries is a British detective television series based on Ngaio Marsh's nine Roderick Alleyn novels. It originally aired between 1990 and 1994. Simon Williams played Detective Inspector Alleyn in the pilot episode. Detective Sergeant Fox, played by William Simons, was Alleyn's righthand man and "Watson" figure, and Belinda Lang starred as Alleyn's love interest, painter Agatha Troy. Because Williams was unavailable for the first series, Simons and Lang reprised their original roles, but Patrick Malahide took over as the lead character. The BBC produced nine episodes, each based on a different novel. Malahide's eight episodes are available on DVD in the United States and the United Kingdom. All nine episodes are available in an Australian box set.
